The Katoomba/Leura Rural Fire Brigade is a volunteer organisation who's task is to protect life and property in the local and greater Blue Mountains area.
The Katoomba/Leura Rural Fire Brigade is a unit of the NSW Rural Fire Service. Comprising solely of volunteers its task is to protect life and property in the Katoomba/Leura area, greater Blue Mountains and across NSW. While its primary role is fighting bushfires and reducing the bushfire threat through hazard reduction the Brigade is often involved in other emergency service tasks, such as search and rescue. The Brigade works closely with other Rural Fire Service Brigades, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Police and the State Emergency Service and travels to provide interstate colleagues assistance (as they have done recently) when needed. The Katoomba/Leura Brigade is committed to professionalism and safety in all of its work.
